Tasting at the Banff Springs

The tasting was booked on Friday the thirteenth so it could have gone either way but I am so happy to say that it was fabulous!

Upon arrival we were greeted by our wedding consultant {actually speaking of her, I would LOVE her job. She gets to plan weddings at the Banff Springs and lives in the employee quarters!}. We were taken to a private room that was lit with candles and had our own server in it. His name was Richard and he will be serving at our wedding as well which is cute!

We each were poured a glass of red and white wine, which Richard made sure were never emptied over the course of the dinner. It felt so posh that I kept having to remind myself that it was all for us.

Our first course was Wlid Mushroom Ravioli with Porchini and Truffle Cream. I have a picture here but it looked so good that I started eating it before I remembered to take a picture {so it is half eaten}.

We then were treated to not one but two soups each. One was a Tomato and Fennel Bisque and the other a Thai Bisque. Both were lovely and we learned that the Banff Springs hire chefs JUST to cook and create soup. Soup is their life and it showed.

After the soups we then had a salad each. They were typical Italian Market salads but it was a nice fresh course before the main.

We each received a different main course, mine was New York Steak and Ryan’s was Chicken Breast with Spinach, Oyster Mushrooms and Goat Cheese filling with Boursin Beurre Blanc Sauce {total mouthful to say!}. The chicken was so good that we have decided that for our main course at the wedding {I stole it off Ryan and made him have the rest of my steak}. I usually don’t like goat cheese but it was hardly noticeable in the dish.  The vegetables were very tasty, actually so good that I did in fact eat a turnip AND LIKED IT!

After dinner we were treated to tea and coffee. We found out that they offer a wide range of herbal teas that are also available to to guests during the dinner {so make a note if you are a tea drinker!}. We thought the dinner was over and then Richard surprised us with a chocolate plate!!!!! I made Ryan eat it all because I was so full and I had already strayed away from my diet too much as it was.

Once dinner was done we just did some more wandering about the hotel and then left. We immediately regretted not booking a room because all that food made us sooooo tired. That’s OK though because I put the money I would have spent towards buying some tickets for Coldplays concert this Wednesday! Plus when we got home my little kittens were waiting at the door so happy to see us.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! xx
